School Council

All parents and staff of École Dickinsfield are members of the School Council. Ten to twelve members are elected or appointed as officers at the beginning of the school year at joint School Council, Parent Association Annual General Meeting. Seven (7) parents are elected; the school principal and two (2) staff members also serve. One or two community members may also be invited to serve.

The School Council meets once a month during the school year. All members are invited to these meetings. Meeting dates are announced in the school newsletter and posted at the school.

The School Council advises and consults with the principal on any matter relating to the school. The goal is to facilitate co-operation between parents, staff and administration to maximize student learning.

The School Council also serves as a liaison between parents, the Public School Board and Alberta Learning. Council assists in long term planning for the school and school policy issues.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
